The Role:
The Senior Prudential Risk Analyst/Prudential Risk Analyst is responsible for providing advanced risk oversight and analysis to support the Head of Prudential Risk Oversight in monitoring and challenging the Treasury and Financial Risk Management functions.
This role is critical in ensuring that the organisation maintains a strong prudential risk management framework and adheres to regulatory requirements, thereby safeguarding its financial stability and reputation.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the organisation's risk profile ensuring that it remains fit-for-purpose for the current risk profile and strategy.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of prudential risk policies and procedures.
- Assist team members and bank-wide, providing technical guidance on risk analysis and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct analysis and 2LOD review of liquidity, capital, credit, model and also assist with market risk oversight, providing independent assessments and challenge to the first line of defence (1LOD – principally Treasury ALM).
- Assist in the analysis of liquidity, capital, and market risks, providing independent assessments of risk exposures.
- Support the development, validation and maintenance of Risk Models and metrics - including the alignment of 1LOD activities to control and policy.
- Lead the review and/or preparation of risk reports for senior management and regulatory bodies where required.
- Contribute to the preparation of risk reports and regulatory submissions primarily through oversight and challenge.
- Assist with Risk inputs to, and challenge of, the ICAAP, ILAAP, RP and other prudential regulatory documents.
- Monitor compliance with prudential risk policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the first line of defence to gather data and information for risk assessments.
- Assist with input and challenge for prudential MI for Committees (eg ALCO, CRC)
- Review of IRRBB assumptions and their application in the ALM system.
- Assist in the second line review, development, check and challenge process for all relevant prudential regulatory returns (COREP, LCR, FSA017, FSA015 etc).
- Review, completion and maintenance of relevant second line controls in the risk system, including review of any prudential risk incidents.
- Review of prudential risk regulatory publications to assist with impact analysis and implementation. 2LOD support and input for (Prudential) Regulatory change and project deliverables (eg SDDT, Basel 3.1 etc).
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
- Advanced degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM highly desirable.
- Experience (pref 2.5+ years) in prudential risk management, preferably within a financial services or banking/building society environment (direct applicability).
- Credit Risk first and/or second line capabilities (eg PD, LGD, economic regression etc) highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of PRA and EBA prudential regulations and risk management frameworks, and the linkage between prudential risks (eg Liquidity, Capital, IRRBB, credit).
- Excellent technical, data analytics and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights (eg Excel, VBA, Python)
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
