This is an opportunity to help shape our cyber incident response capability, strengthen our security operations and contribute to the resilience of our cloud-first banking platform against an evolving cyber threat landscape.
What’s the Opportunity?
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Information Security team in a role that combines hands-on cyber security expertise with strategic oversight across incident response, threat detection, cloud security and technical assurance.
Working across cloud and on-premise environments, you’ll identify and investigate emerging threats, assess technologies and architectures from a security perspective, and continually improve our defensive capabilities. You’ll work closely with technology teams, architects, cloud providers and senior stakeholders, helping to influence security decisions across the organisation and supporting the future direction of cyber security at Cynergy Bank.

How You Will Make an Impact
You’ll contribute by:
Coordinating the response to cyber security incidents, supporting effective containment, recovery and communication.
Conducting proactive threat hunting and investigating suspicious activity across cloud and on-premise environments.
Monitoring and analysing security events using SIEM, XDR and cloud-native security technologies.
Supporting the ongoing development of detection capabilities, alerting and incident response playbooks.
Reviewing technical solutions, architecture and technology changes to help ensure security is considered by design.
Assessing cloud security controls and supporting alignment with industry good practice and regulatory expectations.
Supporting vulnerability management, penetration testing and remediation activities.
Working alongside developers and engineers to embed security throughout the software development lifecycle.
Conducting root cause analysis and helping ensure lessons learned drive continual improvement.
Producing reporting and insights into cyber threats, incidents and control effectiveness.
Supporting cyber resilience, disaster recovery testing and business continuity planning.
Delivering cyber exercises and incident simulations that strengthen organisational preparedness.
What You Will Bring
You’ll be successful in this role if you have experience of many of the following:
Cyber Security, Security Operations, Incident Response or Threat Detection within a regulated or complex technology environment.
Responding to cyber security incidents and investigating security events.
Cloud security across Microsoft Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud.
SIEM, XDR and security monitoring technologies.
Threat hunting, investigations or digital forensics.
Networking, operating systems, identity management and modern security controls.
Reviewing technical solutions, architecture or technology changes from a security perspective.
Secure software development practices and DevSecOps principles.
Vulnerability management and interpreting penetration testing outcomes.
Communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Taking a pragmatic, risk-based approach to cyber security decision-making.
Remaining calm and effective when managing competing priorities or responding to high-severity incidents.
Desirable Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, GIAC, CREST, Azure Security Engineer, AWS Certified Security – Specialty or equivalent.
ITIL certification or experience working within an ITIL-based environment.
